I’m clearing away space this month.
I’ve decided to step back from certain distractions, including social media, to create room for...not exactly sure what. But it can't hurt to be intentional about clearing out space to discover what else can be revealed.
Part of that is a fast — from certain foods, but also from noise.
I’m also leaning deeper into my podcast, recording more personal episodes. Even the lighter conversations I’ve had with guests have sparked reflection in me. But lately, as I step into heavier, more universal themes, particularly grief, told through the voices of people I know and care about, I sense these conversations deserve more than a quick recording and posting.
They deserve my presence. They deserve the honor of being processed, not just published.
Ironically, a good portion of these stories first came to me because of social media — following people from a distance, reading pieces of their lives they chose to share. It’s fascinating how we can engage with someone like that, feeling a quiet connection, and then when their struggles are brought close — when we sit across from them, hear their voice break, see their eyes well up — the connection becomes something entirely different.
Proximity changes everything. It takes a point, a principle, or a struggle and gives it depth. It awakens a desire to really understand, to see the person beyond the topic.
So for now, I’ll be still. I’ll be listening, writing, praying, and making room — for others’ stories, for my own heart, and for what comes next.
Here’s to clearing space for a new layer of discovery.
